Dr. James Distefano is a native of Alexandria, Louisiana. He served in the United States Air Force from 1993 to 2005, and was the Medical Director of Kessler AFB Emergency services from 1998 to 2000.
Dr. Distefano is a specialist in Primary Care/Sports Medicine, and is board certified in Emergency Medicine. He is trained in all areas of Sports Medicine procedures and current practices, orthopaedic and medical. Dr. Distefano received his fellowship training at Oklahoma State University from 2004 to 2005. He then became the team physician for Oklahoma State from 2005 where he remained until his relocation to College Station in 2007, where he became a team physician for Texas A&M Athletics and for local high schools in the JUCO area as well as the team physician for Brazos Valley Bombers of Texas Collegiate League Baseball Club.
Dr. Distefano is a member of the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association’s Government Services Committee, and also serves as member of the Board of Managers of the Brazos Valley Physicians Organization. He recently was elected the Vice-President of the Brazos-Robertson County Medical Society. He has also been on the teaching faculty for Texas A&M and Oklahoma State University.
Dr. Distefano is an active member of the St. Joseph and St. Thomas Aquinas communities and has been married to his beautiful wife Jennifer for 19 years. He has four wonderful children: Daughter Sadie is currently in nursing school, daughter Bailey is active in cheer and athletics at St Joseph High School, son TJ is involved in athletics at St Joseph High School, and son Joe is a student at Bowen Elementary School. He has a love of God, family and sports.
