Dr. Zissimos received his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine degrees from the University of California, Davis. Following medical school he served as a resident in Orthopaedic Surgery also at Davis. During this time he was active in Orthopaedic research and co-authored multiple journal articles. He next served as a fellow under Mr. Barry Tietjens in New Zealand, specializing in arthroscopy and knee surgery.

Following his fellowship, Dr. Zissimos and his family moved to Lake Tahoe,California eventually settling in the town of Truckee. He and his wife, Sandi, owned and operated Sierra Tahoe Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine for the past 14 years. In addition to caring for many of our nations elite skiers and snowboarders, he was active in establishing sports injury prevention programs at his local high schools and ski resorts. He has also stayed active in training our future doctors by serving on the Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Clinical Faculty atthe University of California, Davis and as an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Dr. Zissimos started the Truckee High School Trap Shooting Team where he served as head coach. He has also served on the Boy Scouts of America Shooting Sports Committee and is a Texas 4-H Shooting Sports Instructor.

Dr. Zissimos and his family moved to the Bryan/College Station community in the fall of 2011.

Dr. Zissimos and Sandi married in 1987, they have 3 children and a grandchild. Nicole is married and lives in California. Rachel is a sophomore in the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M. Stephen is a senior at A&M Consolidated High School.
